*Malda Division’s RPF Seizes Brown Sugar Worth Over ₹1.01 Crore at Malda Town Station*

Under the guidance of *Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Malda, Shri Manish Kumar Gupta*, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Malda Division continues to uphold its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of railway passengers round the clock. As part of its ongoing efforts under Operation NARCOS, and under the supervision of Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC), Shri A.K. Kullu, RPF personnel carried out intensive surveillance at Malda Town Railway Station on 28.07.2025.
At around 13:30 hrs, two individuals were observed behaving suspiciously near the Foot Over Bridge on Platform No. 1. at Malda Town Station Upon being intercepted and questioned, they disclosed their identities as Rihan Reza, aged 18 years, and Md. Talib Reza, aged 27 years, both residents of Bihar. Upon searching their belongings, two transparent packets containing *203 grams of suspected Brown Sugar were recovered. The estimated value of the seized contraband is approximately *₹1.01 crore*. All legal formalities under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were strictly followed. After completion of the necessary procedures, the arrested persons along with the seized narcotics were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Malda Town.
A case has been registered by GRP/Malda Town under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress. The success of this operation reflects the vigilance and dedication of RPF Malda Division in its continued fight against drug trafficking and in ensuring a safe environment within railway premises.
