- CPI(ML) Floor Leader and Member of Parliament from Karakat, Raja Ram Singh, has submitted a letter to the Union Home Minister seeking urgent intervention against the illegal targeting and harassment of Bengali speaking migrants in Delhi-NCR, particularly in Gurugram. The MP highlighted the unjust treatment faced by residents, including accusations of being “foreigners” all without due process or evidence.
Earlier, on 25 July, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya led a delegation of political activists, lawyers, journalists, and concerned citizens to Gurugram to visit detention centres, meet affected workers, and engage with relevant officials.
The team found that a targeted campaign of harassment and intimidation is being carried out against Bengali-speaking migrant workers under the pretext of a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order. Residents are being falsely branded as “illegal immigrants,” and subjected to coercion and eviction threats.
Many migrants are now living in fear, and several have already been forced to leave for their homes amid this climate of state terror.
